A Strategy For Becoming Wildly Successful From 3 People Who Have Done It
Another book I’m currently reading titled “The Power of Focus: How to Hit Your Business, Personal and Financial Targets with Absolute Certainty†brings up a very valid point. The reason that many business owners are not as successful as we know we could be is because we don’t spend enough time doing what we are brilliant at doing.
Every one of us has something that we do better than anyone else can. These are the things that we do that bring in the most money for our businesses and that we do effortlessly because we are great at doing them.
Instead, many entrepreneurs get bogged down handling all kinds of things that take time and energy away from doing what we are great at. The authors (Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Les Hewitt) say that entrepreneurs and small business owners are the worst of victims of this type of time wasting behavior – mainly because we have a hard time giving up control of everything.
But think about it… what if you could spend the vast majority of your day, doing exactly what you are best at doing? How far could you take your businesses? The authors say that every business owner should invest in a personal assistant that loves to handle the details that don’t directly make you money – things like bookkeeping, scheduling, accounting, etc.
If you’re thinking, “I can’t afford that,†think it through a little more… If you could spend 3 more hours a day doing the things that are most profitable for your business, wouldn’t you essentially be netting more money and doing less of what you don’t like doing? It just doesn’t make sense for a business owner to be doing anything that isn’t directly tied to profit.
I came across an interesting company online called Today’s Administrative Solutions. This online company offers virtual administrative assistants that handle the details from afar so that you don’t have to worry about extra office space – which is especially nice for home based businesses. Their 101 ways to use a Virtual Assistant is worth looking at and shed some light on a ton of things that I am wasting my time on and that I would be better off hiring someone else to do.
I’m inclined to listen to these authors – Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen have sold over fifty million Chicken Soup for the Soul series books by focusing on what they do best. Les Hewitt is one of North America’s top performing coaches and the creator of the Achiever’s Coaching Program. If these guys can become wildly successful, so can you.

Sounds like a great book! Now that I think about it, I could certainly use a personal assistant…
