Finding Inspiration for Business Success
Have you ever noticed that many things today don’t seem as if they are built to last? As soon as you purchase a new something new like a laptop, it seems as if it isn’t long before something goes wrong; and then, instead of paying to have it fixed, you wind up purchasing another one because it turns out that yours is already outdated! Well, the same thing comparison could be made for many businesses today.
Changing and Adapting
When my father finally made the decision to part ways with Avis a few years ago to pursue a new career as a lawyer, he had worked with Avis for almost 25 years. Today, you don’t usually see this sort of longevity. People change jobs as often as they change their socks. Employers have to work harder to keep people employed with their companies; and sometimes money isn’t enough to do the trick.
You have to at least like who you’re working for as well as what you’re doing.
The Scavenger Hunt Begins
Much like going on a scavenger hunt, employers always need to be on the look out for new clues; clues that their employee turnover rate is a little high; clues that there seems to be a correlation between company morale and the success rate.. And if you don’t play the game, you’re almost always bound to lose because someone else would have figured it out before you.
Think back to the reason(s) why you wanted to start your own company- your vision for success. What was it that drove you back then? What keeps you going now? What are you able to change now to make things better for your company as well as your financial future? How motivated are you, and how can you inspire your employees to be equally as motivated about what they do?
People who are inspired tend to inspire others around them. Perhaps it’s time to brush the dust off of the goals that you once had and revisit the many ways that you can make your dreams a reality.

I agree that money is not enough to inspire your employees. But unfortunately, there are a lot of people that still go after the money without them realizing it. But with the fast devaluing dollar, it sets them up for failure and disappointment. As an employer, it’s your job to make them realize that.
