“Do you feel like we do” - I don’t like Corporate America
Yes, this post was inspired by “Do you feel like we do” Frampton Comes Alive! (1976). Oh, and yes, I was alive (age 10) in 1976. I can even remember that year. Like I tell my 16 year old daughter, “I’m way cooler than any of your friends.” She doesn’t buy it though.

Now the post… “Do you feel like we (I) do?”
(Don’t forget to read and share comments.)
I really don’t like Corporate America because it often sucks the inner spirit out of you: I’m for the little guy. The entrepreneur who wakes up in the morning dreaming, excited and ready to conquer the world. The entrepreneur who has such drive and determination that he/she goes to bed thinking about making a difference and wakes up in the middle of the night with an Ah! Ha! new idea.
I don’t like Corporate America because of the lack of freedom: As an entrepreneur, you set your schedule. You control what you do and when you do it. You decide when to go on vacation. Yes, entrepreneurs do take vacation, but many of them take the good ol laptop with them and write off the vacation. A working vacation is better than no vacation.
I don’t like Corporate America because of loser bosses: Ever felt like you know more than your boss? Ever known for sure that you know more than your boss? Bosses can be a pain in the neck for lack of a better word because we don’t use real four letter words on Create Business Growth.
I don’t like Corporate America. That’s why I don’t work in it anymore. I had a job with a Fortune 200 (not 500 and actually much closer to Fortune 100) company. I had the nice paycheck, the free airline flights, the Corporate American Express Card, my car payment made, my travel paid, a company provided cell phone, laptop, gas, yada, yada, yada, but I HATED IT. I had an inner drive to do something more.: To be an Entrepreneur! To do what I wanted, when I wanted and not to have to answer to a boss that wasted oxygen talking to me.
In closing, I’m living the dream. I’m making a difference in the lives of others and you can to: You just have to do it. You can dream all you want, but at some point, you have to take ACTION!
I want to leave you with the quote below and encourage your comments on this post. We have enough readership that the comments could go on and on if you will just TAKE ACTION…..
“A real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken a new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided” Tony Robbins

I agree totally!
this is exactly what i needed today. i’m about 30 days out from launching my new company and i found out this morning i may have to change the name of it. thanks for the speedy reply, trademark registration office. thank you, dave, for reminding me it’s worth it.
Woohoo! It feels great to be living the dream! I walked away from a darn good paying job with lots of perks to start out on my own. I ate a lot of Ramen Noodles for a while, but things are awesome now and looking better every single day. Cheers to all the amazing entrepreneurs out there!
I got this in e-mail…
“I do prefer a more positive tone when it comes to
sharing information that helps people succeed, so I wasn’t too taken with today’s topic of “I don’t like corporate America.” Just my two cents.”
That’s the beauty of blogs. You can be yourself and say what you feel. Many will like it and many will not.
Sometimes a more positive tone is NOT what people need to get them motivated. I was stuck for years in a job that I couldn’t stand. I have no regrets about moving on or writing the post above… positive or not.

[...] was inspired very much by 3 recent things that I’ve read: David’s passionate post about why he doesn’t like corporate America, Nate Whitehill’s What are Your Goals? post, and a paragraph in the book The Science of Success: [...]
David - good post I agree. By the way, that doesn’t mean you wont do good work for corporate america does it?
Carson, I’m not anti-corporate America. For some people, it’s perfect. It’s not for me personally and I want wannibee entrepreneurs to take action on their dreams. If someone really wants to climb the corporate ladder, then they should do that. As for not doing good work, my integrity would not let me shift into poor work mode. My reputation as dependable, quality and solid are far too important.
