There are pros and cons to having a job and to being your boss. In the end, it all comes down to what makes you happy, what works for you. But the thing I'd add is when switching from a job to freelancing or entrepreneurship, you need to be aware of the changes and know how to help yourself succeed and fight distractions. If you haven't had time to watch tv, read a book and see your friends because of the job, you'd definitely want to do all that in the first week. I think the key is to control yourself and be realistic about what you need to adapt first. And it is true, you need to tighten up your own schedule, no one else will.
