Employee Honesty Does Still Exist in 2009: Long Bay Resort – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
My wife and daughters have made several visits to Long Bay Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over the
past 5 years or so. We have also recommended Long Bay and will continue to do so ESPECIALLY after our visit this past Saturday.
Like many of you reading this, you could not function without a laptop and internet connection. I have a 9 inch laptop that easily fits in a portable DVD player case. The small laptop is my lifeline when I don’t want to haul the regular one around.
Well, here’s where the story gets good and the honesty along with some expceptional customer service comes in. I realized at 9:15 p.m. Sunday night that I had left my 9 inch laptop in the bedroom closet when we checked out at 10 a.m. I went into panic mode and called the resort. Lauren answered and immediately began to take the details down on a lost and found form. She went the extra distance by asking her manager if she could go to the 7th floor and look in the room because no one had checked in to that room since we left earlier in the day. The manager gave Lauren permission, Lauren went to the the 7th floor and called me back with “I’m sorry, the lock is stuck and I have to get maintenance.” She said, “I’m here until 11 p.m. and I will also email a couple of people about this,” but called back at just after 10 p.m. Her reply, “It’s not there.” Unfortunately, she could not access lost and found at 10 p.m. on a Sunday night.
Well, my thought, it has to be housekeeping and was the housekeeper honest? Was it turned in? Well, the answer is… IT WAS TURNED IN. Employee honesty does still exist in 2009 and I’m soooooooo happy that they are shipping it back to me. I’d be lost without it. Actually, I’d be buying another one probably.
I would like to close by thanking Al Coats and the FANTASTIC staff at Long Bay Resort. I would also like to recommend that anyone reading this visit their home page and sign up for their email list. I get some awesome specials via email. If you are looking to stay at Myrtle Beach, keep Long Bay Resort in mind. I’ll sure go back.

Maybe aside from the fact that the employee was honest, he did have a job to do. I think hotels do keep logs of who cleaned this room on that day. They could have easily asked the employee.
But then again, the employee could always say that the laptop wasn’t there when the room was being cleaned. So.. Yay for Employee Honesty!
