Web Conferencing: Choosing Your Service Provider

What to consider when choosing your web conferencing service provider.

Webinars are increasing in popularity because they have become very convenient ways to communicate with other people. These web-based seminars are made possible through web conferencing. Common events transmitted through web conferencing are seminars, lectures, presentations, workshops, meetings, and trainings. Web conferencing services allow people in different locations to view the ongoing webinar.

The ability to do web conferencing, especially for busy company executives, is highly invaluable. It can make any regular meeting so much more informative because web conferencing provides you with the capability to present slideshows, videos, web tours, whiteboard, and any other application. You can even start an open forum, a poll, or a survey.

However, successful web conferencing depends on your service provider. It is important to choose carefully to ensure a smooth and hassle-free web conferencing service. Below are some things that you need to consider in choosing your web conference service provider.

  • Hosted or Deployed. The first thing you need to decide on is whether you need hosted solutions or deployed solutions. Hosted solutions mean that you use the web conferencing service through the provider’s website or server. This kind of service often entails a monthly service fee because the host performs all the maintenance and you do not have to purchase any additional hardware. On the other hand, deployed solutions usually require a one-time fee that will get you software that you can use on your own servers. With deployed solutions, you should be equipped with the necessary hardware to be able to run the web conferencing service yourself.
  • Security. Whether you choose hosted or deployed solutions, you should be aware of the security of the web conferencing services provided. This is especially important if you plan to have meetings discussing sensitive and confidential information. Make sure that you get secure web conferencing services so as not to compromise your company’s data and information.
  • Accessibility. Some web conferencing services limit participants to PC users or Mac users. For flexibility, it will be better to get web conferencing services that can accept both. Some may also set a limit in terms of the versions of the operating systems of the participants. The key here is that the web conferencing services should be accessible to more people.

Audio Conferencing: Making Your Team Work Across The Miles

How audio conferencing can benefit business teams

Nowadays, conducting your business or managing your team can be easily done even if different members of your team are miles away from each other. Audio conferencing has provided a very convenient way of communicating and collaborating with other people no matter where they are located.

Whether you are a big business or a small home-based one, having the ability to do audio conferencing with your people will make things smooth and seamless. Below are some of the benefits you can get from audio conferencing.

  • Quick communication. Even quick emergency meetings can easily be done through audio conferencing. You can communicate with as much as a hundred people no matter where they are. Aside from this, many audio conference providers will only take a few minutes to set up.  There is no excuse for your team members not to be able to join the conference because they can do so from anywhere.
  • Reduce costs. Instead of visiting your business sites, audio conferencing will allow you to monitor your company or team even if you are miles away. You will cut down on huge transportation and accommodation costs that you would have incurred. A single business trip will cost a lot especially with the expensive airfare, gas prices, hotel accommodations, and food allowance whereas an audio conference will allow you to conduct your business anytime and anywhere. Aside from this, many audio conference services are very affordable allowing you huge savings in the long run.
  • Operator assisted. For those who are not very tech-savvy, audio conferencing is still very possible. Audio conference services often come with 24/7 assistance and customer support to help everyone have hassle free audio conference access.
  • Record your meetings. A lot of audio conference services will give you the option of recording your call. This will help in documenting all communication and will make it easy for you to recall the specifics of your meetings.

Audio conferencing is quickly becoming a necessity for many businesses that have offshore offices and teams. So if you find yourself constantly making business travels, you should make use of audio conferencing now to enjoy its many benefits.

Find That Nugget That Separates You From the Competition

*Note: This is a guest post written by one of our readers, Karl Staib. For more information on how to submit a guest post, please send an email to Janelle [at] unlimitedwebsolutions [dot] com or see our guidelines for guest posting.

Every blogger/writer/speaker wants an audience. We want to communicate our ideas to others. Everyone wants to be heard. It is the social beast within us that can’t be contained.

Maybe you want to communicate your ideas for: money, prestige, or maybe you’re so loaded with money, but you’re bored and you just want some attention.

It doesn’t matter why you do it, what matters is “what you do with the experience.” We are all in competition with co-workers, ourselves and time- whether you are the ice cream girl that wants a better schedule than the other ice cream employees or you are a manager who wants the “top performer” from another division on your team.

We All Want the Best Choices

That’s what blogging is all about, making your voice more compelling than the other 100 million blogs that are out there. It’s all about finding that nugget that brings you attention.

In the case of the ice cream girl, maybe she is so good with the customers that they give compliments to her manager or maybe you have the ear of the CEO who allows you to pluck that “top performer” for a raise into your team. They figured out how to find that little nugget that separates them from the competition.

I’m learning to separate myself from the crowd by researching topics before I write an article. If 1,000 other bloggers write “7 Tips to Becoming a Better Manager” then I’m going to get lost in the sea of noise. If I write a blog about “7 Secrets to Managing Up and Getting What You Want” then I’ve separated myself from most of the noise.

Take it to the Next Level

If your co-workers are all creating PowerPoint presentations to “wow” the boss, then create a video to go along with your presentation. Yes this takes more work, but it will make less work for you in the future. You will be able to use your past success to leverage your future success.

You need to separate yourself so you have more choices.

As more people read this article, more attention will be drawn to work-related issues and I will continue to build my expertise in the field of work happiness. The more you find my little nuggets, the more the “Work Happy Now” cause will spread.

You can separate yourself from the crowd by spreading little nuggets of goodness in every corner of your industry.

Always ask yourself: Can I find something new to make this better? By digging a little deeper you can stir those creative juices to help you get noticed. The added bonus from this extra creativity is more excitement. I know I always like a little more excitement in my working day.

Karl Staib writes about unlocking and kicking open the door to working happy at his own blog: Work Happy Now! If you enjoyed this article, you may like to subscribe to his feed, follow him on Twitter or read one of his most popular articles, Tell Your Boss You Need Leisure Time.
